ECI Extends Telangana Electoral Roll Revision Schedule, BLO Verification Till August 3
The Election Commission has extended Telangana’s special intensive revision schedule. The booth level officers will continue to verify from house to house till August 3 and the final electoral roll will be published on October 12.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has formally extended the deadline for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Telangana, providing residents and officials much-needed additional time to complete the voter verification process. Given the challenges in meeting the initial deadline, ECI has extended the house-to-house enumeration phase, being carried out by Booth Level Officers (BLOs), from the original July 24 deadline to August 3, 2026.
This extension recognises the difficulty of reaching out to each and every household, especially in dense urban centres like Hyderabad, where the volume of work and logistical challenges have raised concerns about the pace at which the exercise is moving. Besides regular remuneration, the Commission has also approved a one-time special honourarium of ₹6,000 to each BLO and BLO supervisor to acknowledge the intense nature of this work and to support the personnel on the ground.
The change in the enumeration deadline has of course had a cascading effect on the entire electoral roll revision calendar. The house-to-house visits have been completed, and the draft electoral roll will be published on 10th August, 2026. Following this, residents will have a dedicated window to file claims and objections from August 10 to September 9, 2026. The final publication of the state’s electoral rolls is now scheduled for 12 October 2026.
The ECI has also dispelled a misconception among many citizens, that is, you need not submit supporting documents during this current phase of house-to-house visits. You will only be asked to provide documentation at a later date if the electoral registration officer issues a notice in relation to your records after the publication of the draft rolls. This extension should offer a nice cushion for those who haven’t been visited or had trouble connecting with their local officials yet. So, if you are still waiting for your BLO, you can now rest assured that the process will continue for a few more weeks so that every eligible citizen has a chance to have their details correctly captured in the updated rolls.
