The Jammu and Kashmir administration has made elaborate arrangements for the annual Amarnath Yatra with a huge network of security, housing and transport facilities to welcome an initial wave of around 55,000 pilgrims.

Thousands of devotees throng to take the arduous journey to the holy cave shrine and authorities are concentrating heavily on tight coordination, safety guidelines and smooth crowd management to keep the show running seamlessly.

High Security, Safe Transit

Considering the sheer scale of the pilgrimage, security forces have put in place a multi-layered system across Jammu and along both the traditional transit routes.

Stick to the schedule. The administration is strictly setting the convoy schedules for safety and orderliness. Pilgrims are being told to move only in approved vehicles moving in groups under security supervision.

Active Monitoring: The routes are under close monitoring through a combination of localised checkpoints, surveillance systems and heavy deployments of regional police and paramilitary forces to avoid bottlenecks and ensure the safety of travellers.

Accommodation, Medical Centres, Transport

The administration has set up dedicated base camps and makeshift transit centres with food stalls, clean water and information helpdesks to ease congestion at transit hubs.

The trek is physically demanding and is set at a high altitude and a strong health care network has been put in place. Medical teams, emergency response units and ambulances fully equipped to handle altitude sickness, physical exhaustion or any sudden medical emergencies are posted at regular intervals along the twin routes.

Yatris: quick checklist All individual registration permits, medical fitness certificates and valid government IDs are must-carry items for the yatris, the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board has stated. Devotees are also requested to co-operate with the security personnel and avoid social media rumours which are not verified on route change or weather conditions.
