Allegation of Expired IV Bottle Administered at Gujarat's Danta Civil Hospital, Family Accuses Staff of Negligence

The woman’s relatives said she was being treated at Danta Civil Hospital when an intravenous fluid was administered. 

She apparently swelled up shortly after. The family says they only realised the IV bottle was out of date once the drip had begun. The hospital staff were charged with serious misconduct.

Relatives have made several allegations. They say no doctor was there when the IV was started. 

They also claim the nurse on duty was on her mobile phone and no proper checks were made before starting the treatment.

A relative said, "This is a clear case of negligence. Such trade-offs on patient safety are not tolerable.
