Two Dead in Noida Building Fire, Police Suspect Spark From Charging Electric Vehicle
Two persons have died in a fire in a residential building in Noida. The blaze could have been caused by a spark when an electric vehicle was being charged, police believe.
Today, on July 15, 2026, a tragic event occurred in the village of Mamura, Sector 66, Noida, as a fire engulfed a residential building, claiming the lives of two people and shocking the entire village.
The Cost of Humanity
The victims, a man and a woman, lived in the building and had pre-existing health conditions. The fumes were so toxic and thick they were critically ill as they filled the structure. They were taken to the district hospital in an ambulance but were pronounced dead by doctors there.
How It Happened
The fire seems to have been caused by an electric two-wheeler charging on the ground floor. The spark is said to have ignited nearby parked petrol-driven vehicles. The fire started in the parking lot, and the building doesn't have a basement, so the smoke went up, trapping families in their apartments.
Aegis
The morning was a fight for survival for the roughly 50 families in the building. Some residents had to find their own way out, climbing across makeshift ladders from above in the terrifying moments before help arrived. Eventually the fire was brought under control, and the remaining residents were evacuated by the emergency services, including the fire service with seven appliances and a hydraulic platform.
Taking Responsibility
The owner of the building and the leaseholder have already been detained by the local police. An FIR has been registered at the police station of Phase 3, and the authorities are now probing if the building was following basic safety norms and whether the practice of charging EVs in the parking area was being carried out in a safe manner.
It’s a sad reminder of how quickly a simple thing like charging a vehicle in the home can become a disaster when safety isn’t front and centre. Worried about the safety of charging setups in your own building,
