Cocaine Worth Nearly $20 Million Seized From Truck at US Border

US authorities have seized cocaine worth almost $20m from a commercial truck on the US-Mexico border. Officials say it’s the second-largest seizure of cocaine this year in California’s Southern District and a major blow to cross-border drug trafficking networks.

Cocaine Worth Nearly $20 Million Seized From Truck at US Border

Big Drug Bust At Border Inspection
The seizure occurred at a California border crossing during a routine inspection. US Customs and Border Protection said officers flagged a commercial truck for additional screening.

In the vehicle search, a large amount of cocaine was found hidden in the vehicle. The narcotics were confiscated immediately before they could hit the US market. Officials estimated the street value at about $20 million.

Second Biggest Seizure in Southern California This Year
Authorities called it the second largest seizure of cocaine in 2026 in California’s Southern District.

“This is a major disruption to an organised smuggling operation,” said a CBP official. “We are keeping millions of dollars of illegal drugs out of our communities,” said the CBP teams.

Investigation ongoing
Law enforcement agencies have now opened an investigation to trace the origin of the shipment and those responsible for it.

Officials are also probing whether the haul is part of a broader criminal network across the US-Mexico border. No arrests have been announced thus far.

Authorities tighten border security
The bust underscores the continuing efforts by US border agencies to stop narcotics smuggling. Officials say a combination of advanced screening technology, intelligence inputs and routine inspections catches large shipments.

Such seizures show that trafficking organisations are at increased risk at the US ports of entry, CBP said.
