Sky Turns Into Battlefield: Ukraine’s Massive Drone Attack Rocks Russia
Ukraine has launched one of its largest aerial drone attacks on Russia since the war began, with Russian authorities reporting at least six deaths. Moscow and several other regions were targeted, while Russia said its air-defence systems intercepted hundreds of drones. The attack was followed by continued Russian strikes on Ukrainian territory, highlighting the escalating use of long-range drones by both sides.
Ukraine has launched one of its largest aerial attacks on Russia since the beginning of the war, sending hundreds of drones toward Moscow and several other Russian regions. Russian authorities said the overnight assault killed at least six people and caused damage to homes, infrastructure, and other facilities.
The attack comes as fighting between the two countries continues to intensify, with both sides increasingly relying on long-range drones and missiles to strike targets far from the front line.
Moscow Region Suffers Heavy Drone Attack
Russia's Defense Ministry said its air defenses destroyed or shot down hundreds of Ukrainian drones during the attack. Moscow was one of the main targets, with officials saying a large number of drones had been detected approaching the Russian capital.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said air-defence units covered the entire region and several drones were shot down before they reached the city.
But despite the defensive reaction, some drones did damage. Russian authorities said an elderly man was killed when a private home in the Moscow region was hit. A big fire was also reported at a warehouse in Podolsk.
Five More Deaths Recorded in Rostov
The southern Russian Rostov region was also heavily damaged. The attacks damaged a number of buildings and other infrastructure and left five people dead, local authorities said.
Strikes also hit transport and emergency services in parts of the region. Emergency crews were deployed to tackle fires and assess damage from falling drone debris, authorities said.

Russia vs Ukraine Again
The Ukrainian attack came as Russia was continuing its own aerial offensive against Ukraine. Russian forces launched missiles and drones overnight at several Ukrainian cities, causing casualties and damage.
Explosions and fires were reported in Kyiv and other areas by Ukrainian officials. Several people were injured, with emergency teams working to clear damaged buildings and respond to fires.
The attacks, which came at the same time, suggest the conflict is escalating as drones capable of hitting targets hundreds of kilometers away are being employed by both Moscow and Kyiv on a broader scale.
War Enters Yet Another Dangerous Phase
The latest wave of attacks comes amid uncertainty about diplomatic efforts to end the war. Ground fighting and long-range strikes have shown little sign of slowing down as international talks continue.
Moscow keeps hitting Ukrainian cities and infrastructure, increasingly targeting military and industrial sites inside Russia itself.
The latest drone attack will likely heighten tensions further and could lead to another round of counter-attacks as the Russia-Ukraine conflict enters another dangerous phase.
