Sumona Chakravarti Reveals Endometriosis Surgery, Says Experience Changed Her Perspective On Life

Actor Sumona Chakravarti has spoken about battling a personal health issue. She hasn't been on Instagram for almost two months but returned with a tearful update to reveal she had surgery for endometriosis in May.

"Two months healing"
"Had endometriosis surgery on May 4th; had been suffering for years before it got worse," Sumona wrote in her note. 

The last two months were about physical and mental recovery," he said. She also extended her thanks to her doctor and medical team for their support during her treatment.

In her first post since returning to social media, she wrote: “I’m feeling healthy and grateful.

New perspectives on life 
“Life is completely changed after the surgery,” Sumona said. She said she doesn't want her online life to be dictated by likes, followers and engagement numbers anymore. 

She instead hopes to use her platform to have real conversations about health, mental well-being, travel, books, food and life experiences. 

She told me, “I want my space to reflect who I am, not some fake version for social media.”

Discovering Your Voice to Assist Others
Sumona said that she has always been private about her personal life. But she decided to speak out about endometriosis, hoping her story could help others in a similar situation. 

She also spoke about turning 38, saying the scars from the operation are “reminders of strength, not something to hide”. “Growing older is a privilege,” she said. “I now prioritise gratitude, wisdom and real relationships over social media validation.

Sumona ended her post with a note to her fans that she will keep them updated on her work, fitness and collaborations. She also helps to raise awareness and get conversations started in the health and wellness space. She also called on like-minded people to join her in this new chapter
