Ram Temple Donation Theft: Police Trace ₹15 Lakh Transactions as Probe Deepens
The police investigating the theft of the Ram Temple donation, are tracing the financial transactions of ₹15 lakh with the SIT probe gaining momentum. A case has been registered and eight people have been taken into custody.
The probe into the stolen donations at the Ayodhya Ram Temple is turning into a massive financial jigsaw puzzle, and the police are now tugging at a thread worth ₹15 lakh to see just how deep this thing goes.
"When you have a place that gets millions of rupees in donations from regular people pouring their hearts out, any hint of foul play becomes deeply personal for a lot of people." Here’s a look at exactly what the police are dealing with behind the scenes at this point:
Following the Money
And it’s not just missing cash boxes the police are looking at now; it’s bank statements and digital screens. They have flagged ₹15 lakh worth of highly suspect transactions flowing between bank accounts.
The Goal: Investigators want to find out exactly where the money went after it left the temple counters, whose names are on those bank accounts and if there are any hidden “silent partners” who have not been caught yet.
Digital Footprints They're sifting through phone records, digital wallets and bank logs to create a rock-solid timeline of how the money was shuffled around.
How it all fell apart
This was not achieved overnight. For weeks a special investigation team (SIT) had been quietly probing into the temple's books and operations.
And on June 23 the SIT released a preliminary report that pretty much confirmed their worst fears. Money was being diverted for sure.
Two days later on June 25, police registered a First Information Report (FIR) and swooped in to arrest eight people.
These eight suspects are not charged with a mere smash-and-grab. They all had very specific, coordinated roles, police believe – some dealing with the physical cash and others dealing with the bank transfers – to systematically syphon off the money.
What the Investigators Will ask Next
There is immense public pressure to clean this up, and this temple is getting donations from every corner of the country. The main concern for the police now is time and scale. They're trying to figure out if this was a fast, one-off heist or if this group has been quietly draining the donation funds for months or years.
The eight people in custody are being grilled extensively, while experts are carrying out a forensic audit of the temple’s finances. The police have already made it clear: they fully expect to make more arrests as more bank records get exposed.
