Rahul Gandhi takes jibe at Centre over NEET protests, says ‘criminals roam free while students are beaten’
Rahul Gandhi criticised the Modi government over police action against NEET protesters, alleging that students were being mistreated while criminals remained free. His remarks have intensified the political debate surrounding the ongoing protests.
Congress leader lashes out at Modi govt
Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi launched a blistering attack on the Narendra Modi-led government over the way protests by NEET aspirants were handled, accusing the authorities of crushing students and not cracking down on criminals. His remarks came after videos of police action against protesters circulated on the internet, sparking political controversy.
Gandhi questioned the government’s priorities. “Students who were seeking justice were being dragged and beaten, not heard,” he said.
“Students Need Justice Not Force”
“Criminals are roaming free, students are dragged and beaten up,” Rahul Gandhi said in a strongly worded statement, accusing the Centre of failing to protect the interests of the young people. He said that the students protesting on examination-related issues should be engaged through dialogue and not through force.
The Congress leader also sought accountability from the government and demanded a fair solution to the issues raised by NEET aspirants.
The government has yet to respond.
The BJP and the Union government have not responded immediately to Gandhi’s latest criticism. Meanwhile police said they took the necessary steps to ensure law and order during the protests.
The protests have gained national attention, as students demand more transparency and fairness in the examination process. Security was tight at protest sites to prevent any more unrest.
Political Debate Heats Up
The incident has added fuel to political debate over the government’s handling of education-related issues. Opposition parties have allied themselves with the protesting students, while the ruling party has defended administrative steps taken to maintain public order.
