Tamil Nadu CM Vijay Writes to PM Modi, Seeks Permanent Freeze on Lok Sabha Strength at 543

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking a permanent freeze on the strength of the Lok Sabha at 543 seats. The demand comes amid continuing political discussions over the proposed delimitation exercise and its possible impact on the representation of states.

Vijay has raised concerns that any significant change in the distribution of Lok Sabha seats could alter the existing political balance between states. Tamil Nadu and several other southern states have expressed apprehension that states which have successfully controlled population growth could potentially see their parliamentary representation affected if population becomes the primary basis for allocating seats.

Concern Over Delimitation
