Several important financial and administrative changes have been implemented across India from July 1, impacting households, businesses, taxpayers and passport applicants. From a cut in the price of commercial LPG cylinders to updated passport fees and a longer deadline to file Income Tax Return (ITR), these changes are likely to impact millions.

LPG Commercial Now Cheaper. One of the big changes is the reduction in price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder by ₹183.50. The cost cuts are expected to ease the burden on firms using commercial gas, including restaurants and hotels. But domestic LPG cylinders will not see any change in price, so the price of cooking gas for homes will remain the same.

Passport Fee Structure Revised

The government has revised the passport service charges for various categories of applicants. The updated fee structure covers fresh passport applications, renewals and Tatkal services. Applicants planning to apply for a passport are advised to check the latest charges before submitting their applications.

Aadhaar Email Update Now Available

Another key change is related to Aadhaar services. Now, citizens can update or add their email address associated with their Aadhaar card through the prescribed process. The update seeks to improve communication and enable users to receive authentication alerts and access online government services more easily.
