Govt Ready for Detailed Parliament Debate on Exam Paper Leaks: JP Nadda

The British government is readying for a showdown with parliament over the paper leaks.

The Indian government has indicated that it is wide open for a detailed discussion in Parliament on the recurring issue of leaks in examination papers. Intense political heat and growing opposition pressure over the handling of public examinations saw Union Minister JP Nadda announcing this.

The Opposition's Heavy Charges

Hours after Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi addressed the media and made strong allegations against the government, the latter held a briefing. Gandhi alleged that a staggering 152 leaks of examination papers have occurred in the past 10 years, destroying the aspirations of millions of students and leaving families in distress. He added that despite the huge scale of these disruptions, not a single meaningful conviction has been secured to hold anyone accountable.

Parliament in tension

The ongoing parliamentary session has been marred by frequent disruptions, noisy protests, and fierce demands by opposition MPs for systemic reforms and the resignation of key officials. While the opposition is using the issue to corner the ruling administration on administrative failures in major competitive exams, the government has said it is ready to face the floor of the House and debate the matter openly.
