BJP’s New Strategy Unveiled: Smriti Irani In, Amit Malviya Out in Major Reshuffle

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has unveiled a major organisational reshuffle under national president Nitin Nabin, bringing several experienced leaders back into key positions while introducing fresh faces. The changes have placed greater emphasis on women, youth and wider social representation as the party prepares for upcoming political challenges.

Smriti Irani Returns to Key BJP Role

Former Union minister Smriti Irani has made a significant return to the BJP’s national organisation. She has been appointed a national general secretary, with a key organisational role in Uttar Pradesh. Her appointment is particularly significant ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, where the BJP faces a crucial political contest.

Irani, who previously served as a Union minister, remains one of the BJP’s prominent women leaders. Her return gives the party an experienced campaigner with a strong organisational and public profile.

Amit Malviya Replaced as IT Cell Chief

One of the most notable changes is the removal of Amit Malviya from his long-held position as head of the BJP’s IT and social media operations. He has been replaced by Deepak Mhaskey, a leader from Chhattisgarh with an academic and professional background.

Malviya had played a prominent role in shaping the BJP’s digital communication strategy for more than a decade. His exit marks a significant change in the party’s approach to its social media organisation.

The reshuffle comes at a time when digital platforms are playing an increasingly important role in political communication and public mobilisation.

Youth and Women Get Greater Representation

The new BJP team combines experienced leaders with younger faces. The party has also increased the representation of women and leaders from different regions and social groups.

The organisational changes are being viewed as an effort to strengthen the party’s structure at the grassroots level while preparing for upcoming elections. The BJP has also sought greater regional diversity in its national team.

Ram Madhav and Piyush Goyal Also Get Key Roles

The reshuffle has brought several prominent leaders back or given them important organisational responsibilities. Ram Madhav has returned as a national vice-president, while Union minister Piyush Goyal has been appointed national treasurer. Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje has also been named a national vice-president.

The new structure reflects a combination of experience and fresh leadership, with the party aiming to strengthen its organisation across states.

BJP’s Roadmap Ahead

The BJP’s revamped national team is expected to focus on strengthening the party organisation, expanding its outreach and preparing for upcoming elections. The first meeting of the new national office-bearers is expected to take place on August 22.

The reshuffle signals a new phase under Nitin Nabin, with the party attempting to balance established political experience with younger leadership and greater representation of women.
