'At This Age, You're Making Me Rap!': Farhad Samji Recalls Amitabh Bachchan's Hilarious Reaction During Bol Bachchan
Director and writer Farhad Samji has shared a memorable behind-the-scenes story from the making of the 2012 comedy Bol Bachchan, revealing how megastar Amitabh Bachchan initially reacted to performing the now-iconic rap sequence in the film. The veteran actor jokingly asked the strange ask, "At this age you are making me do all this, Miyan?" Samji said.

A Rap That Became a Fan Favourite

“It was no mean task convincing Amitabh Bachchan to mouth that high energy rap,” Samji said of the experience. The versatile actor, who has a commanding screen presence, was initially surprised with the idea of rapping at his age. But Bachchan agreed to give it a shot after hearing about the idea and where it fit into the film.

The rap ultimately emerged as one of the highlights of Bol Bachchan, with viewers cheering for the actor’s energy and perfect timing.

Amitabh’s determination Team Impressed Left.

“Amitabh Bachchan was a little hesitant initially but he went into the sequence with complete professionalism,” said Farhad Samji. He practiced a lot, making sure that every line and expression was in line with the film's comedic tone. Bachchan’s passion for experimentation even after decades in the industry was a reflection of his enthusiasm to try out something new, Samji said.

The filmmaker said working with the veteran actor was a learning experience, as Bachchan was open to suggestions and gave his hundred percent to each scene.

An icon that keeps on reinventing himself

Bol Bachchan was helmed by Rohit Shetty and came out in 2012. It starred Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, Abhishek Bachchan, Asin and Prachi Desai. The film was a commercial success and Bachchan's rap sequence is one of the most talked-about highlights of it.

Farhad Samji’s latest recollection is full of Amitabh Bachchan’s humility and sense of humour. Even after a career of over five decades, the legendary actor still surprises his fans by taking up offbeat roles with dedication and enthusiasm, thus proving why he is one of the most enduring stars of Indian cinema.
