Tamil Nadu CM Vijay Celebrates Tamil Cinema’s 10 Wins at 72nd National Film Awards

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay on Sunday posted a heartfelt message to celebrate the state's brilliant show at the 72nd National Film Awards. Tamil cinema won 10 awards in total. The chief minister called it a "proud moment" for the state and a testimony to the creative brilliance and hard work of the local film fraternity.

"An achievement milestone

The recognition is across various categories and highlights the diversity and technical expertise in Tamil films that released in 2024. Some of the notable awards celebrated by the chief minister are the following:

Raayan: Dhanush's directorial debut wins Best Tamil Feature Film, big win for the actor-director.

Amaran: The team had a clean sweep, with Rajkumar Periasamy winning Best Director, R. Kalaivanan Best Editing and G. V. Prakash Kumar Best Background Music.

Maharaja: The film got well-deserved acclaim, with Sachana Namidass being named Best Supporting Actress and Anl Arasu getting the Best Stunt Choreography award.

Captain Miller: Dhanush won Best Film Promoting National, Social and Environmental Values and also a special mention for his acting.

Technical Excellence: Suren G was specially mentioned for his work on Meiyazhagan, and T. S. Hariharasudhan for his sound design on the short film Blue.
