Recent satellite images suggest that China has deployed at least 11 of its most advanced stealth fighters at airbases facing India. The positioning of these aircraft is of interest given their strategic location near the Line of Actual Control (LAC), underscoring Beijing’s ongoing military modernization along its western frontier.

China’s Air Power Gets a Boost

The aircraft identified are believed to be China’s fifth generation stealth fighters, designed to maintain low radar visibility, with advanced sensors and long range combat capabilities. The deployment bolsters the People’s Liberation Army Air Force’s (PLAAF) high-altitude border surveillance and rapid response capabilities.

India’s reaction will take time.

India is building its own air combat capabilities, though its homegrown fifth-generation fighter program and other advanced aircraft projects are years away from operational deployment. In the meantime, the Indian Air Force will have to continue depending on the existing platforms such as Rafale, Su-30MKI and upgraded air defence systems to keep up the combat readiness.
