A massive fire broke out at a multi-storey electronics showroom in Delhi’s Janakpuri area early on Wednesday, destroying lakhs of rupees worth of electronic goods and triggering a major firefighting operation. The blaze broke out around 4.15 am at the Vijay Sales showroom on the Uttam Nagar-Najafgarh Road, and the Delhi Fire Service (DFS) was alerted about the incident, a senior officer said.
Fire breaks out before dawn, causing heavy losses but no loss of life.
As soon as the fire was reported, the Delhi Fire Service rushed three fire tenders and six water bowsers to the spot. However, as the flames quickly spread across the multi-storey building, more fire engines were called in, taking the total number of fire tenders to 13. Firefighters worked tirelessly for more than two hours to bring the blaze under control by around 6:30 a.m. Even after the flames were extinguished, cooling operations continued to ensure the fire did not flare up again.
The cause of the fire is not yet known, and an investigation is underway to determine what started the blaze. While no injuries or casualties were reported, the incident caused extensive damage to electronic goods and property worth lakhs of rupees.
