Kashmir Faces Water Crisis, Civil Society Seeks Urgent Action
The Group of Concerned Citizens (GCC), a civil society organisation made up of retired judges and bureaucrats, raised awareness of the problem of retreating glaciers and dwindling waterbodies in Kashmir.
The group said that if prompt action is not taken, diminishing lakes, marshes, and other waterbodies might result in severe environmental and water shortages. It demanded a long-term plan to safeguard the region's valuable water supplies.
