Indian Embassy in Tehran Advises Nationals to Postpone Iran Travel, Consider Leaving Amid Rising Tensions
The Indian Embassy in Tehran has urged Indians to postpone travel to Iran and advised those already there to consider temporarily leaving through available flights as security concerns rise.
Postpone Your Trip, Think About Departing Now
The Indian Embassy in Tehran has issued an urgent, comprehensive revised travel advisory strongly advising all Indian nationals to immediately postpone any planned trips to Iran as regional volatility has reached an alarming boiling point. The diplomatic mission also noted a sharp rise in local instability and growing conflict throughout the region, and strongly urged citizens currently in the country or visiting the country to seriously consider packing their bags and exiting the country temporarily by utilising available commercial flight options before the security situation on the ground deteriorates further. Officials stressed that it was safest for families and individuals to leave while commercial routes were still open.
Safety Procedures; Emergency Contact Numbers
The embassy emphasised the “critical need” for those unable to leave immediately due to unavoidable circumstances to keep a low profile and exercise the highest level of personal caution. Citizens are advised to avoid sensitive areas altogether, particularly high-risk areas where military activity or public protests have increased, monitor local news channels closely and strictly follow safety guidelines issued by local authorities. The mission has also officially asked all Indian nationals who have not registered their contact details with the embassy to do so at the earliest so that they can be contacted in case of an emergency.
To assist citizens during this crucial and stressful time, the embassy has issued 24/7 emergency helpline numbers and a special email channel for immediate assistance:
