How to Keep Yourself and Your Pets Safe During Extreme Heat

Drink plenty of fluids and get well.
And most importantly, drink water regularly even if you don't feel thirsty. It can dehydrate you fast in the heat. Stay out of the sun during the hottest part of the day, typically between 11 am and 3 pm. Light-coloured. Baggy clothing. Stay inside in an air-conditioned or fan-cooled room if you can. Libraries and malls are good places if you don't have AC.

Visualise your animals
Like people, animals don’t do well in extreme heat. Always give your pets fresh cool water and a shady place to lie down. The afternoons were free of dogs. Asphalt and pavement can burn their paws in minutes. If it’s too hot for you, then it’s too hot for them. Walk in cooler times of the day, such as early morning or evening. First put your hand on the ground.

Beware of red flags.
Profuse sweating, headache, dizziness, nausea and confusion. Pets can become weak, have difficulty walking, or drool or pant a lot. If you have these symptoms, go to a cooler place straight away. In serious cases, see a doctor or vet immediately
