Heavy Rain Leaves Mumbra Roads Waterlogged, Traffic Comes to a Standstill

Roads Turn Into Waterlogged Stretches
Heavy rain caused massive road blocking in Mumbra, with a number of roads submerged under rainwater. In a video posted to social media, cars, vans, and trucks sat stuck in knee-deep water, some of them underwater to some depth, as drivers waited for the water level to drop.

Many commuters were stranded on the roads for hours as a result of the flooding, which caused long tailbacks. Others were pictured walking slowly through the flooded streets to their destinations.

Interruption in flow of Traffic
Traffic in the area came to a standstill due to waterlogging, with several vehicles getting stuck as the water level rose. Both public transport and private vehicles suffered with an inconvenience to workers, students, and residents.

A lot of drivers chose to pull over rather than risk their vehicles by driving through the flooded roads.

Residents Question Drainage

It has raised concerns again over the drainage system of Mumbra.” Residents have questioned why roads continue to get flooded during heavy rainfall despite repeated complaints over the years.

Some others vented on social media to say that such situations can be avoided during the monsoon season with better drainage and regular maintenance.

Call for Action from Authorities
Residents have demanded civic authorities upgrade stormwater drainage and clean blocked drains before heavy rains. They feel timely maintenance can reduce waterlogging and minimize disruption during the monsoon.

No injuries have been reported from the flooding so far. However, the commuters have been advised to avoid waterlogged roads as much as possible and to drive carefully during heavy rainfall.
