Delhi Set for Hotter Days as Temperature Nears 40°C, Air Quality Also Dips

Monsoon Relief Temporary, Heat Returns
The mercury is again on the rise after a few days of respite from monsoon showers. 

Delhi weather: Rain to take a break; temperatures likely to touch 39-40°C as per weather forecasts. Conditions are likely to feel hot and uncomfortable, especially during the afternoon hours.

The India Meteorological Department said the dry spell is likely to continue for the next few days before any major change in the weather.

Air Quality Best In 85 Days
The heat has also led to a significant deterioration in Delhi’s AQI. 

City officials said the city’s air quality dropped to the worst level in more than 85 days. The increase in pollution levels could be hardest on people with asthma, children, and seniors.

Experts attribute the decline to a mix of dry weather, dust from the region, and car emissions.

Caution advised by doctors
Health experts are calling on people to take precautions as heat and pollution are on the rise.

Important tips are:
- Drink lots of water and keep hydrated 
- Don't go out during the hottest times of day, typically between 12 pm and 4 pm
- Limit outdoor exercise if AQI is bad
- Use masks if you have respiratory problems and daily AQI updates

People with pre-existing breathing problems have been advised to keep medication handy and consult a doctor if symptoms worsen.

Rain is desired by the residents
The short-term forecast does not call for rain, but many residents are hoping for widespread showers that will cool down the temperature and clear the air.

Authorities said they are watching weather and pollution levels and will issue advisories if conditions worsen.
