Delhi Riots Case: Former AAP Councillor Tahir Hussain Convicted in IB Officer Ankit Sharma Murder Case
A Delhi court has convicted former AAP councillor Tahir Hussain and four others* in the murder of Intelligence Bureau officer Ankit Sharma during the riots in North-East Delhi in 2020.
The verdict came Wednesday, over five years after the violence. The court shall pronounce the quantum of sentence in due course.

How the Incident Developed
Ankit Sharma, a 26-year-old IB officer, was among those killed in the riots that broke out in North-East Delhi.
His body was found days after the violence in a drain in Chand Bagh. It was one of the most talked-about deaths to have come out of the riots and led to an in-depth probe by Delhi Police. To be decided later. The court has pronounced the conviction, while the quantum of punishment will be decided in a separate hearing.
Both sides will submit arguments on sentencing before the court decides how long to jail the convicted.
