The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has relaxed the three-language rule for students of Classes 7, 8 and 9. The new decision allows more flexibility in the choice of languages for schools and students and aims to ease learning.
CBSE Gives Students More Choice
Under the new rules, students can now choose from two foreign language options if their school offers them. This will give students more choice and help those who want to learn a new language for higher studies or future job opportunities.

The change has been made to give more flexibility while still following the goals of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the CBSE said. Schools will be able to offer these language choices based on the availability of teachers and other resources. The board has also asked schools to guide students and parents properly while selecting language subjects. The updated policy is expected to give students more choices and help them learn languages that match their interests and plans.
