Conditional Support for Delimitation

Speaking to reporters, Sule clarified that her party is not opposed to the idea of delimitation in principle. However, she stressed that the exercise must be carried out in a fair, transparent and equitable manner. According to her, any proposal should ensure that states which have successfully implemented population control measures are not placed at a disadvantage in terms of parliamentary representation. Sule said the party would examine the final provisions of the bill before extending its formal support in Parliament. She added that the interests of all states must be protected and that national consensus is essential on an issue with far-reaching constitutional implications.
