Bangkok Pub Fire Kills 27, Injures 63 as Investigation Into Safety Lapses Begins

Crews rushed to the scene and worked for hours to contain the fire and rescue those trapped. Within minutes, the hall was filled with smoke, and evacuation was difficult.

Early checks have raised serious concerns about fire safety at the venue. Investigations are underway into reports of emergency exits being blocked and possibly inappropriate fire safety systems. 

Now officials are investigating whether those failures contributed to the high death toll. 

Under Investigation: 
Thai authorities have opened a full investigation. The teams are looking at the building for code violations, interviewing the pub’s management and reviewing CCTV video to determine how the fire started and spread so quickly.

“Any negligence will be prosecuted,” the authorities said.

Nation Mourns, Safety Regulations Demand Increases
The tragedy has shocked Thailand, and tributes are flooding in for the victims and their families. 

There have also been calls for tougher enforcement of fire safety laws in pubs, clubs and other crowded places. 

The wounded are being treated in hospitals. Rescue work is in progress at the scene.
