Zelenskyy Becomes First Foreign Leader to Visit the UK Since the New Prime Minister Took Office

Zelenskyy’s visit to London marks an early diplomatic milestone for the new UK government. 

The meeting underscored the strong ties between Kyiv and London amid ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Both sides described the relationship as a “strategic partnership” built on continued support.

The visit was also seen as a signal of Britain’s foreign policy priorities under new leadership.

Defence and Security Take Centre Stage  
During discussions, Zelenskyy and the prime minister focused on strengthening military support for Ukraine. 

Key topics included expanding weapons production, improving maritime security in the Black Sea, and ensuring long-term defence assistance. UK officials reaffirmed their commitment to providing aid and training to Ukrainian forces.

Zelenskyy thanked Britain for its continued backing and said cooperation was vital for Ukraine’s security.

Preparations for Key International Meetings 
The UK visit comes ahead of Zelenskyy’s expected meeting with US President Donald Trump. Diplomats said upcoming talks will cover military aid, regional security, and coordination with allies.

Officials noted that aligning support between Washington, London, and European partners will be crucial in the coming months.

UK Reaffirms Support for Ukraine 
British officials said the meeting was constructive and reflected a shared goal of helping Ukraine defend itself and rebuild. 

“Britain stands with Ukraine,” a government spokesperson said. “We will continue to support them for as long as it takes.”
