USA's Aaron Jones suspended for alleged match-fixing:Batter charged for breaching anti-corruption codes ahead of T20 World Cup
USA cricketer Aaron Jones has been provisionally suspended for all forms of cricket with immediate effect, for alleged match-fixing. This comes as a blow for the USA cricket team, days before the T20 World Cup. Jones was part of the USA's T20 World Cup campaign in 2024, where the Monank Patel-led team had defeated Pakistan and reached the Super Eight stage. USA, slated to open their T20 World Cup campaign against India on 7 February, have not announced their squad yet. Aaron Jones suspended from all cricket The International Cricket Council (ICC) released a statement that detailed the breaches. Aaron Jones was charged with five counts of breaches from the ICC and Cricket West Indies (CWI). Three out of the five charges stem from Jones' participation in the Bim10 tournament in 2023-24, while two are related to international cricket. The batter was part of the USA's training camp in Sri Lanka prior to the T20 World Cup. Furthermore, Jones was also charged with 'obstructing' the Anti-Corruption Unit's investigation. The ICC also added that this was part of a bigger investigation and that there might be other 'participants' who are likely to be charged 'in due course'.
