Students Deserve Solutions, Not Outrage': Pradhan Pushes Back as Congress, CJP Demand Resignation

The political storm over the recent student protests snowballed with the Congress and the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) continuing protests seeking resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. With criticism mounting, Pradhan defended the government’s stance, saying India “owes our students more than outrage” and called for constructive dialogue rather than political confrontation.

Protest Grows Stronger Against

New Delhi: Congress leaders and CJP members protested in New Delhi on Wednesday alleging the Centre’s failure to protect students and mishandling of recent protests. Opposition parties said the police acted too harshly against students and demanded that the government be held responsible.

The protests involved marches, sit-ins and sloganeering, with several leaders repeating their demand for Pradhan's resignation saying the government had failed to address students' concerns.

Pradhan Replies

Reacting to the rising demands for his resignation, Dharmendra Pradhan said that the concerns of students need to be addressed but political parties should not politicise the issue. The country’s youth, he said, deserve real solutions, not anger and confrontation.

The Union Minister also reiterated the government’s commitment to improve the education system and engage the stakeholders to resolve the issues through dialogue.

Increasing Political Strains

The protests have intensified the political battle between the BJP-led Centre and the Opposition. The BJP said the protests were politically motivated, while the Congress accused the government of muzzling dissent.

Police kept a watch on the protests and had imposed restrictions on movement in sensitive areas and security was beefed up in various parts of the national capital. Authorities asked demonstrators to keep calm and adhere to protest guidelines.

The deadlock continues and the issue is likely to dominate the political discourse in the coming days with the government and the opposition refusing to budge an inch.
