Nothing Cancels CMF Phone 2 Pro Successor Amid Rising RAM Costs

Nothing has reportedly discarded  plans for a successor to the CMF Phone 2 Pro due to rising memory costs. Akis Evangelidis, co-founder of Nothing, made the announcement, claiming that the company could not develop a meaningful upgrade while keeping the device affordable.

The CMF Phone 2 Pro gained attention after its launch last year for offering premium features and design at a budget-friendly price of $279. However, increasing component costs have made it difficult for manufacturers to maintain similar pricing strategies.

Why Was the Successor Cancelled?

According to Evangelidis, Nothing had been working on a follow-up to the CMF Phone 2 Pro. However, the sharp rise in memory prices made it impossible to build a device that offered a significant improvement without increasing its price.

"We were working on a successor, but with memory prices as they are right now, we can’t build a phone that feels like a genuine step forward at a price that makes sense for CMF,” Evangelidis wrote on X. The decision highlights the growing challenges faced by smartphone manufacturers as key components become more expensive.
