Tollywood powerhouse and MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna is resting peacefully under strict medical supervision after undergoing successful corrective surgery at Hyderabad’s AIG Hospitals.

A veteran actor suffers a serious and painful injury to his left knee while working hard on a movie set in Rajahmundry. Considering the seriousness of the injury, he was shifted to Hyderabad for advanced specialised treatment.

Inside the Operating Room: Fixing a Bad Tear

Balakrishna had suffered a complete tear of the left quadriceps tendon – the key tissue that connects the thigh muscle to the kneecap – with heavy strain and tearing of the supporting tissues, complicated by localised blood pooling around the joint, doctors at AIG Hospitals said.

A gifted team of orthopaedic surgeons stepped in, performing a careful multi-hour operation. They painstakingly cleaned out the wound, sutured the torn tendon tightly back to the bone, and reinforced the tissue around the knee to make sure his knee would heal with full strength and stability.

On the Mend and Back to Work Soon

The good news is that the surgery was successful, and the actor is now stable and in good spirits while under post-operative observation.

Soon a careful, structured physical therapy and rehabilitation plan will be underway to help him get back on his feet. With the legendary resilience of Balakrishna, he will be back to the silver screen and his active public service in no time after healing up.
