Kuwait signs major defense deal with Pakistan after three-year wait

Kuwait has approved a broad military cooperation agreement with Pakistan after a three-year wait since the signing of the deal in June 2023. The landmark agreement, signed through decree-law no. 73 of 2026 and splashed on the pages of the official state gazette, Kuwait Al-Youm, creates a formal framework to firmly tie the armed forces of both countries together.

The treaty is not only a symbolic piece of paper but also contains practical cooperation. It gives both militaries an opportunity to learn specialised tactical training, share intelligence insights, improve joint logistics and advance defence technology, research and expertise sharing.

Joint Manufacturing, Technology and Cultural Exchange Expansion

The partnership covers not only general combat readiness but also an impressive breadth of technical and support areas. The agreement specifically includes military production, advanced electronic communications systems and specialised scientific research.

It also extends into less traditional venues, enabling cooperation in military media, cultural programmes and interservice sports activities. To make sure these noble objectives don’t just get written down and shelved, a newly formed Joint Military Committee will take the steering wheel. The dedicated oversight board will develop annual operational calendars, coordinate cross-border training exercises and plan high-profile official visits between military brass.
