Kapil Sibal Targets BJP Over Alleged Ram Mandir Donation Scam, Says 'Ram Ko Loota, Desh Ko Loota'
Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal on Sunday targeted the BJP over alleged irregularities in the Ram Mandir donations and accused the ruling party of betraying Lord Ram as well as the country.
Ruling Party Gets Poetic Jab
Rajya Sabha MP and senior advocate Kapil Sibal launched a scathing political attack on the BJP, taking a poetic dig at the allegations of financial irregularities over the Ram Mandir donations in Ayodhya. The ruling party had betrayed the trust of the people and was using religious devotion for political gains, Sibal said. In a couplet he summarised his criticism: “Ram ko loota, desh ko loota” (They have looted Ram; they have looted the country), accusing the administration of having betrayed both deity and nation. He appealed to the people to keep a close watch on these acts and said that the ruling party had made full use of the sacred sentiments and public trust.
Row Over Demands For Greater Transparency Grows
Sibal’s strong statement has only added fuel to the already heated confrontation between the ruling government and opposition parties, which have together sought full transparency and a detailed probe. Critics say the alleged abuse of temple funds is a far more serious matter than a routine financial dispute; it is, in their view, a profound breach of trust, especially given that the citizens helped pay directly for the building. While opposition leaders continue to criticise the government over its management of the temple funds, the BJP has aggressively countered the accusations, defending the administration and denying any wrongdoing.
Severe political scrutiny and implications for future elections
With several states heading for high-stakes elections, the growing controversy over the management of the temple funds is certain to remain at the forefront of public discourse. The Ram Mandir has been one of the most sensitive religious and political flashpoints in India, and any allegations of impropriety are bound to attract intense public and political scrutiny. With the fight heating up, both sides are standing firm, turning this financial fight into a major campaign issue that will greatly influence how voters see and discuss accountability.
