One of the arrested persons is wife of undertrial prisoner Miraz, whom the criminals tried to release when he came to the court for hearing. One police man was killed in the incident.

Patna Police team led by SSP Garima Malik came to Danapur today to investigate and interrogate the arrested criminals. Bike-borne criminals tried a failed attempt on July 10 to release Miraz. One constable who was posted at court was shot dead in the firing incident. The police arrested Reshma, wife of Miraz and one other criminal for the interrogation. Continuous raids are being conducted to nab the other culprits involved in the incident. The police expect to get some important clue from the arrested persons during interrogation. SSP is personally monitoring the whole investigation process.

Malik said the criminals have given an open challenge to the police by firing at court campus. The police has taken the whole incident quite seriously and no one involved would be left free. The police would soon solve the case, she added.

Miraz allegedly shot a police constable dead outside the Danapur civil court premises in the state capital on Wednesday evening while trying to escape. The incident occurred around 4.30 pm when the prisoner, identified as Mohammad Meraz Imam alias Rinku, along with three others, was being taken to the Beur Central jail from the court lock-up by the police. Meraz, Babloo Kumar, Rohit Kumar and Mantu were brought from Beur jail to Danapur court in a case of vehicle theft.

They were being taken to the prisoner van parked in court premises when Meraz started firing at Constable Prabhakar Raj, who was unarmed. A bullet hit Prabhakar in the head and he fell on the ground.
