RANCHI: With the sibling festival of Raksha Bandhan round the corner, the postal department has introduced special water proof envelops for the occasion.
This scheme has been thought of in the light of complaints that envelopes containing “Rakhi” are often found in damaged condition. The envelope would be available at a cost of Rs 10 at every post office.
ABD, Postal Department SK Mishra said that the new envelope is not only good for consumers, but also for the postal department as they can be easily sorted out and delivered fast. As Rakshabandhan falls on August 15 this year and on this day, sisters tie a sacred piece of thread to renew the bond of protection, so such initiative has been taken.
“With these new envelopes it will be easier for the postal department to sort out the Rakhi envelopes from the normal envelopes. This way they will be able to deliver the Rakhi fast. Adorned with colourful pictures these envelopes looks attractive as well, “said Mishra.
These specialized envelopes could be used with the required stamps and sent across cities. This specialized envelopes have a decorative picture of ‘Rakhi’ to differentiate them from the ordinary ones.
Notably, the envelope would be made of glossy paper and no gum would be needed to paste it as envelope adhesive would be pre-applied on the envelope. Meanwhile, looking at the festival of Rakhi, a special counter has been opened at many places.
