‘Missionaries have amassed huge property for the past several decades’

Former Jharkhand advicate general anil kumar sinha said many commercial construction works were taking place in church land at present. It may be stated here FIR has also been lodged in Allahabad in which officer bearers have been accused of illegal transaction of land provided to the Churches by the government. Sources said that many assets in Jharkhand has also been sold illegally. Sinha however added that as per the CNT it would be difficult to reclaim the property under possession of church for more than 30 years. Meanwhile efforts to elicit response from the Church of North India on the issue were in vain as its secretary was out of station. The local authorities were unwilling to provide his contact number and information about his next visit to Ranchi. The spokesman of Roman Cathololic Church David Khalko however said that his institution have done nothing wrong in land deals. “We purchase land solely for religious and social works including opening schools and hospitals. Irregularities by individuals should not be associated with the Church. We would be providing a detailed statement on the issue later on.
He said irregularities are taking place at many place but people are targeting us. In many cases the allegation are false.
