RANCHI: Investigating officers (IOs) of offenses falling under crime against women, PCOSO and NDPS act underwent training at the police line in Ranchi on Sunday on various provisions of laws and amendments and ways to improve investigation of the cases.
The programme organized jointly by District legal Service Authority (DLSA)and Ranchi police was attended by Additional judicial commissioners Diwakar Pandey and Sudhanshu Kumar Sashi, rural SP Ashutosh Shekhar, chief judicial magistrate Faheem Khan, DLSA secretary Abhishek Kumar, deputy SP crime control room and sergeant major.
During the workshops the judges informed the participants about amendments in the juvenile justice act POCSO Act, Crime against women and NDPS Act with the view to improve their investigation. The IOs, comprising largely of sub-inspector rank, were from the rural and urban police stations of the district.
Speaking about the programme Rural SP said that special focus of government was on aspects like crime against women and POCSO act. “The IOs were asked to complete the investigation according to the rules and also told about ways to carry out medical examination of victims and maintain the case dairy correctly”.
The SP said, “We are the prosecution side and work with the right attitude. We should not think out task complete merely by filing the charge sheet”.
