New Delhi, July 21 . In an alert issued on Sunday, Microsoft, a technology conglomerate headquartered in Redmond, Washington, issued a warning of “active attacks” that aimed to target the servers leveraged by both government bodies and global agencies. This attack will expectedly target the software sources used by agencies and the government for sharing documents internally.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) warned about this attack, with no other official information disclosed. This federal agency also said that it is collaborating with both private and federal-sector partners to combat this attack.

The FBI is the intelligence and security service of the United States. It acts as a federal law agency body and reports to both the attorney general and the director of national intelligence.

Reportedly, the attacks will be limited to the on-premises SharePoint servers, which are used internally by most organizations. Microsoft confirmed that SharePoint online and cloud-based versions of Microsoft will not be affected by these attacks.
